The Divine Comedy

Novel Relaunch & Presentation Folio

This reinterpretation of Dante's 14th-century epic poem aimed to reintroduce the novel to young bibliophiles. The publication features an excerpt from Inferno, the first volume that depicts Dante's journey through the circles of Hell and the recognition and rejection of sin. Elongated serif fonts represent classical religious imagery and towering pillars depicted in the original artworks. I used negative images, which represent tortured souls, to evoke dread within the reader. By mixing milk with food dye, I was also able to create strange and twisted patterns. Beige and red were used as the primary palette to represent old parchment and blood.
